"The more that you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."                           Dr. Seuss

Reading is the one habit that allows you to travel the world without ever leaving home.  Reading is also the one skill that affects all others.
One must be able to read proficiently in order to achieve success
more readily in other areas of instruction.

One must be able to read in order to process the information in any given subject area.  As a matter of fact, Rader (2010) acknowledged its growing importance in today’s informational society.  For educators in today’s classrooms, the challenge and pressure certainly permeates the culture of the classroom.  There is substantial pressure to raise the achievement level of all students as well as to ensure that all students are achieving at or beyond grade level.

Reading teachers are cultivating lifelong readers through the literacy pedagogy utilized within their classrooms.  This makes the task seem monumental for a reading teacher.  In order to cultivate lifelong readers, we must teach effective reading strategies so that all students can become engaged and active readers and better comprehend text independently.

To me, we really have the whole world in our hands...Inspire someone to read...TODAY!
