Veteran's Day 2014

On Tuesday, November 11, 2014, we will celebrate Veteran's Day!  It is a time to honor those who have fought for our country and we thank them for their service. Because of them, we have freedom today!

World War I, known as the "Great War," officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919. Interestingly, fighting stopped seven months earlier when an armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is referred to as the end of “the war to end all wars."  From this day, we have continually honored our veterans on November 11.
