Deep Reading


I was "tagged" in a posting of an interesting article about the benefits of reading literature and how reading deeper is perhaps an 'endangered art' and one in which needs to be protected.  Here is the link to the full article, as it appeared in Time magazine:

Why we should read literature!

There are certainly some very interesting points made in regards to the importance of deeper reading, which is often considered close reading, one in which the reader reads more deeply for further comprehension and engages in the reading so as to be critical of a text, make connections, and evaluate its worth.  I do believe that good readers understand more easily and benefit greater from reading.  My only wish is that ALL students (and adults) could enjoy reading and see it for the entertainment that I do.
