Not only is this very well said, but it was written by one of my favorite authors; one that I read often throughout my master's degree in reading and cited often in my dissertation. We often wonder why reading is such a problem in this country? We no longer read nor teach children the love of a good book...we teach them to take a test immediately after reading. Where is student engagement and excitement in that? It will not exist nor improve if we don't change our mindset and explore reading as the journey that it really can be!
Be THAT teacher...model the love and exploration and pure wonder of a great book!
