Historical Fiction with an Eerie NonFiction Story at its Core

Reading is absolutely one of my most favorite hobbies! I read to relax, travel to different times, places, and to meet different people; but most of all, I read!

Before We Were Yours was recently recommended by a former professor from my graduate program at FGCU.  After reading her blog post, I couldn't wait to download the book.  Blog Link

Very rarely does a book leave me speechless, but this one nearly did that!  What a raw, emotional story of a tragic and unbelievable "practice" of adoption.  It is hard to imagine that a person as evil as Georgia Tann actually existed and even more troubling that she had help from so many other powerful individuals at that time.  She ran the Tennessee Children's Home Society from 1924-1950 in Memphis, TN.  She kidnapped children, fooled and lied to parents and sold their babies to people willing to pay top dollar.  In fact, she earned a very lucrative living off of this most despicable act.  It is a must read and one that will have you turning pages so quickly. In fact, you will not be able to put it down until it is finished.  And when you finish it, it will stay with you!
