Banned Books Week

This week (September 27-October 3) is Banned Books Week!  I saw an interesting comment from award-winning author, Jacqueline Woodson in reference to banned books that include topics such as sexuality, prison, and drugs.  She posed an excellent question:  "Are you  really protecting your child, or are you keeping your child from the tools they'll need to deal with these issues?"  
So, I ask you:  Do we really want to keep books away from students? Shouldn't we defend the freedom to read?
