This week (September 27-October 3) is Banned Books Week! I saw an interesting comment from award-winning author, Jacqueline Woodson in reference to banned books that include topics such as sexuality, prison, and drugs. She posed an excellent question: "Are you really protecting your child, or are you keeping your child from the tools they'll need to deal with these issues?"
So, I ask you: Do we really want to keep books away from students? Shouldn't we defend the freedom to read?
