Today, we lost one of the most famous authors, Harper Lee. Lee was 89 years old. She wrote To Kill A Mockingbird, which stayed on the NY Times Bestseller List for 88 weeks and earned her a Pulitzer Prize. The book was also made into an award winning film. I have read this book a few times and also attended the live performance of it at the Masquerade Theatre. In many ways, this book was much like Lee's life. To Kill A Mockingbird was her first novel and has been referred to as a recluse for most of her life. Responding to why she didn't continue to write, she often reflected that after the success of TKAM, she felt there was nowhere to go but down. Most recently, Go Set A Watchman was published and became an instant hit upon its release in July 2015.
